A laughing and appreciative audience was on hand for the reading, which Olson called a “Tune-up” for his new script. This will be Olson’s 17th published play, of which 10 are carried as offerings by the Samuel French Company, a well-known theatrical resource that publishes plays, represents authors, and sells scripts. Olson, who authored the popular “Don’t Hug Me” plays and musical series, has also worked as a “Script Doctor” for major movie studios.
Set in a small Town in West Texas at “Buford’s Open Pit Barbecue” Restaurant and Bar, “A Twisted Christmas Carol” is a comedic parody of the Dicken’s classic.
Olson was in the audience as actors, Cindy Daigneault, Charles Harvey, Cody Joseph, Liyan Legavardi, and Graham Cooley took on the quirky personas of the play’s hilarious characters. Leigh-Anne Mozelle was the shows technician which was directed by Gary Daigneault.
After the performances, Olson joined the actors on stage and asked for comments, suggestions, and critique of the characterization, dialogue and presentation from the audience and the performers.
The special performances were offered as a special event, with the proceeds from reduced ticket prices going to the Theatre 29 Building expansion Fund. Season ticket holders were invited to attend at no charge as a bonus for their ongoing support.
