The Board of Directors for the Morongo Basin’s most successful, all-volunteer, non-profit Community Theater organization, Theatre 29, held their yearly reorganization meeting December 11, 2018 and elected new officers and Board Members for 2019.
Elected for two-year terms (2019-2020) were Incumbents; Kathryn Ferguson and Charles Harvey. They were joined by newcomers Tera Bottorff, Ben Costello, and Peggy Thrasher.
They will join incumbent Board members (2018-2019) Char Childs, Cindy Daigneault, Gary Daigneault, Lisa Goldberg, Janet Peercy, and Serina Zuniga.
With sadness, the Theatre 29 Board regretfully said good bye to the last of the original founders of Theatre 29 remaining on the board, Brian Tabeling. Tabeling, his wife Patty, and John and Carol Calveri first created the Theatre 29 organization in 1999. Board President Gary Daigneault said, “We will miss the time, talent, and hard work given so generously by Brian Tabeling. Brian’s integrity, fairness, work ethic, and knowledge of the inner workings of the Theater itself, as well as of the nuance of the art of theatre are irreplaceable.” Tabeling will be retiring from his position as an instructor at the Marine Corps Communication and Electronics School (a position he took after retiring as an active Duty Marine) in 2019. Tabeling will remain as an active ex-officio member of the Board, transitioning other volunteers before a long-planned move to Arizona in 2020. Also, regretfully leaving the board are Patti Brown who will turn her attention to pressing business obligations, and Katie Fleischman, who will focus on directing, performing and planning for a family.
In reorganizing for 2019, for the Executive Board, the Board of Directors voted unanimously to elect Gary Daigneault as the Board President, Charles Harvey was named vice-president, Lisa Goldberg Board Secretary, and Tera Bottorff Treasurer.
President Daigneault then made board committee appointments, which were approved by a vote of the Board as per the Theater 29 by-laws. The board members and their areas of responsibility are:
