It will be an exciting full night of fun and surprises to kick off the annual Holiday Season in the City of Twentynine Palms! Santa Claus will be flying in directly from the North Pole on a helicopter to join the new and improved combined Twentynine Palms Light Parade and City Tree Lighting set for 5:30-7:30 pm Tuesday, December 4, 2018.
The Twentynine Palms Rotary Club is partnering with the City of Twentynine Palms for this year’s Light Parade which will start at 5:30 pm on Joshua Lane, turn right up Adobe Road. Passing City Hall and then turning left on to Sun Valley Drive. After the Parade, some entries will return and be on display in the lot just west of Veteran’s Park at City Hall. Light Parade applicants are available at the Park and recreation offices at Luckie Park or by calling Z107.7 at 760-366-8471. Applicants are asked to bring a donation to the Twentynine Palms Food Pantry as the cost of entering.
After the Parade passes, the combined Twentynine Palms Service Clubs; Soroptimist International, Kiwanis, and Rotary will host the formal beginning of the holiday season as they prepare to illuminate the official City Christmas Tree at the park. After a welcome from Mayor McArthur Wright, area churches will mark the season with music and celebration, the service clubs will serve hot Chocolate and holiday goodies. The tree will be lit at 6:25 pm, there is no charge.
On Adobe Road in Front of City Hall, a Christmas Wonderland with holiday inflatables, decorations and music will be hosted by the City Recreation Department and kids can get ready for the arrival of Santa Claus! JOIRIDE, a new helicopter touring company just now locating in Twentynine Palms will be bringing in Santa Claus himself all the way from the North Pole. The helicopter with Santa will land on Adobe Road in front of City hall at 6:30 pm. Area kids (and some young-hearted grown-ups) will be able to meet Santa and take pictures at a special outdoor stage in the street. Santa is set to head back to his busy workshop at 7:30 pm.
