Part-Time Member Service Representative

Job Description:

 

Reports to: Manager, Branch Office; Assistant Manager, Branch Office; or Supervisor, Branch Office

 

Posting Description: To provide members and prospective members the full range of products and services offered by Navy Federal Credit Union including depository accounts such as share, share certificate, IRA, revocable trust and estate accounts; consumer and real estate lending; and credit/debit cards

 

Level I

*General experience in a clerical, technical or administrative position

*Effective verbal and written communications skills

*Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with individuals in difficult situations

*Ability to work accurately with numbers and perform basic mathematical calculations

*Experience in a customer service position, preferably in a financial institution, which included duties such as operating and balancing a cash drawer and/or providing face-to-face customer assistance

*Ability to exercise judgment, logic, and initiative; to work independently; maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity

*Skill in interpreting, understanding, and explaining written and oral regulations, instructions and procedures

*Effective organization, time management, and problem solving skills that demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines, work productively and accurately, and manage multiple tasks

*Ability to work in a high volume customer service environment

*Familiarity in the use of a personal computer and associated software and the ability to navigate multiple screens on a PC

 

Level II

*Experience as a Member Service Representative in Branch Operations or in a similar member/customer service position which included duties such as opening new accounts and/or counseling consumers about financial accounts, products and services

*General understanding of all applicable products and services with the ability to research and analyze account data to effectively resolve multiple types of account problems

*Thorough understanding of electronic services such as ATMs, and automated phone and On-Line services

*Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment, logic, integrity and initiative; to work independently; and maintain confidentiality

*Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret written and oral instructions

*Ability to assist lower level team members

 

Level III

*Experience as a Member Service Representative in Branch Operations or in a similar member/customer service position which demonstrates proficiency in counseling consumers about financial accounts, products and services

*Detailed knowledge of savings and lending programs as described under major responsibilities with the ability to research and analyze account data to effectively resolve multiple types of complex account problems

*Comprehensive knowledge of policies and procedures pertaining to the submission, evaluation and processing of consumer loan requests; membership criteria; credit union/banking regulations; and pertinent Federal laws

*Experience as a Member Service Representative in Branch Operations or in a similar customer service position which included duties such as reviewing and analyzing consumer loans

*Ability to resolve the more complex situations pertaining to policies and procedures, automated /on-line services, loan analysis and loan approvals

*Demonstrated skill in mentoring lower level team members

 

Desired:

*Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and practices

*College coursework concentrating in finance, accounting, or business administration

*Experience in a credit union environment

 

Staffing assignments periodically adjust to meet business needs. The person selected for this position could be permanently transferred to another office in the same geographic region at any time.

 

Supervisor, Branch Office

Job Description:

 

Reports to: Branch Manager and/or Assistant Manager

 

BASIC PURPOSE

 

To provide supervision and oversight in a small/medium/large full service branch office operation, including personnel management and office security. May serve as a Navy Federal Assistant Treasurer, Loan Officer, and/or Vault Custodian.

 

QUALIFICATIONS -- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

Required: Trainee Level

-General experience that includes clerical, technical or administrative skills that display increasing levels of responsibility and authority

-Demonstrated or potential ability to supervise

-Demonstrated or potential ability to handle multiple priorities, exercise good judgment and employ initiative

-Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with members and employees

 

Required: Target Level

-Previous supervisory experience

-Knowledge of operational requirements to include technical proficiency in cash operations and account/loan services

-Ability to quickly and independently interpret and apply regulations, policies, and directives

-Demonstrated ability to perform the major responsibilities of this job effectively and efficiently

 

Desired:

-High school education

-Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills

-Effective planning and organizational skills

-Credit union/financial institution experience
